Just another Saturday morning with the EyeCanSee's

Saturday Morning Scene
Little J decided to get up at 6:30 this
I took advantage of all his early energy and went to the park!

I love that we're withing in short walking distance of a park, a HUGE outdoor pool with FOUR waterslides, diving pool, fountains, sand playground plus tennis courts, a skateboard park, basketball hoop the list goes on and on.  I can pretty much guess where Jamie will be spending his days as he gets older and I love he only has to cross on neighborhood street to get there!

I think there was a royal wedding today....

When did Harry become the hotter of the two Princes??   Do you think the rumors of Diana's affair with her body guard are true?  Either way...he needs to be thanking his lucky stars he got his mama's good looks!

Happy Friday!  The hubs and I have a date night on Saturday with some of my fave bloggers and their main squeezes!  Eeek!  Can't wait!

That's all I have to say about that

  • I'm getting kind of excited for the Royal Wedding tomorrow.  Up until a few days ago I couldn't have cared less, but now I'm anxious to see Kate's dress and all the festivities.
  • Last night the hubs told me he would be home late.  Usually this bums me out, but yesterday I was secretly glad because it meant I could watch all my shows guilt free.
  • My swimsuit order from Target arrived.  Let's just say they will all be going back.  The mission to find something that doesn't look like a lycra mumu continues.
  • I did however find a pair of white linen pants which rock.
  • I love to eat salads as a healthy lunch alternative, but I loathe fat free dressings and have to use the real deal so sometimes I feel like they cancel each other out.
  • Yesterday a guy flipped me off.....with his young daughter in front seat.....after he cut me off.  Nice.
  • Every week I say I'm going to stay on top of the house clutter.  It never happens and by Friday it looks like a Tornado hit.  On weekends when we travel, it's even worse.
  • I kind of want to do a summer related 30 day blog challenge.  I've come up with a list of about 20 or so ideas but then I get stumped.  Anyone wanna toss some thoughts my way??
Happy *almost* Friday!

Dear mom......

Six months.
183 days.
It's hard to believe it's been half a year since I saw your face or heard your voice.
Argued with you over something stupid.
Laughed with you.
Cried with you.
It's amazing all the things that remind me of you....a McDonald's drive thru, a pair of pineapple sandals....
I love it and hate it all at the same time.
I'll hear a new song and wonder if you would have liked it.
I'll watch Jamie do something and wonder what you would have said.
I don't know if anyone else can see, but I see it in myself.
I've changed.
I see the world so differently these days.

Missing you always.
Love Em

Easter Photo Dump

Bet you thought you weren't going to see anymore Easter posts did ya?
Well I couldn't resist sharing a few pictures from Mr. J's first Easter!
If you've been following me long enough, you may remember THIS post....the one where my mom and I went shopping shortly after finding out Jamie was a HE!  It's during that spree we picked up his Easter outfit for this year, hard to believe he finally got to wear it!  Palm tree pants, sweater vests and boat shoes oh my!

He looked mighty handsome if I do say so myself.....I'm pretty sure my mom would have agreed!
Now if only I could get one, just ONE, decent family picture where the baby isn't enamored with my necklace and my husband keeps his eyes open.  Is that too hard to ask for?
Happy (belated) Easter friends!

Brain Dump

It's Friday and I don't think I could form a coherent post if I tried, so instead you're getting a brain dump.

  • Thank you so much for all your Vegas advice.  We've found a way to make it work thanks to an early Bday gift from my dad......he's the best!  :)  Vegas here we come!!!
  • The hubs took my car in today to get new tires.  Woo hoo.  They discovered my rear breaks are dunzo and I need new ones.  Really?  FML.
  • Do we ever get out of the Jr High gossip mill??  No?  I didn't think so.
  • My son may be the funniest person alive, next to me of course.  How a person who can't even talk yet manages to crack me up on a daily basis never ceases to amaze me.
  • We skipped the Easter Bunny this year.  I tried to order a basket, but they were sold out.  Mom fail.
  • I'm banned from picking out movies.  The last 5 I've picked out have all sucked.  Either my tastes have changed or movies just aren't what they used to be.
  • I haven't done any actual real work today.
  • I think I'm going to take Jamie's 9 month pictures almost 2 weeks early just so I can use a coupon that's expiring at the end of April.
  • I'm on an antibiotic where the pharmacist specifically said NO alcohol, apparently not even cough syrup.  I just ate some Beer Cheese soup for lunch.  Here's to hoping I don't hit the floor.

Happy Easter Weekend friends!

Buyer's Remorse

Or maybe I should say Traveller's Remorse.
All weekend long we planned our Vegas trip.
Found our flights.
Picked a hotel.
Decided on some shows and must see's.
Even planned a potential blogger meet-up with Mrs. Brown.
All that we were waiting for to officially pull the trigger was our tax refund.
Well it showed up in our checking account yesterday and I immediately got buyer's remorse.
Sad considering I haven't even booked anything yet.
I know I said we were going to be all frivolous and spend the money on a much need vacay for my 30th....something I was supposed to do with my mom.
Well in the back of my mind is my mom's practical voice saying
"Should you really be spending that money on a trip???"
My car needs new tires.  Our basement needs a wall and we haven't been able to use the shower in the master bathroom since July.
Sigh.  I hate being all adult and practical, but I have a hard time splurging with so many things hanging over my head.  The hubs says it's my choice in the end.  It's my birthday and he knows how hard it's going to be without my mom.  He even said if I didn't want to take the trip, I should buy the camera I've been lusting over.  Tempting hun, but trading one frivolous purchase for another isn't really solving anything.
I know life is short, my mom is proof of that, and at the end of the day do I want to know I lived everyday to it's fullest.....or do I want to take the safe, practical route?
Oh what to do, what to do......

I don't like to cry in public

Today I did something I NEVER do.
I played hooky.  Well, sort of.
This stupid lingering cold which makes me think it's gone for good likes to sneak up on me and yesterday I felt like crap again.  So I said, enough is enough, I'm staying home today.
I'm going to take the day to rest and try and kick this cold once and for all.
I layed on the couch, watched a stupid movie and got some lunch with my husband.
I was amazed at all the women out for lunch.
So this is what retired ladies and stay at home moms do in my neighborhood.  Go to Panera.  The place was crawling with estrogen.
Then I saw this cute little pregnant lady and her mom.
And I remembered one of the last times I ate at Panera.
I was pregnant....and out to lunch with my mom.
She had been out fabric shopping for Jamie's nursery and happened to be in my neck of the woods, so I met her for lunch.
I miss those days.
That's when I almost lost it....until I remembered, I don't cry in public.
So I kept it together until we got into the car.
And then the tears started to fall, but I turned away and looked out the window.
I hate it when anyone sees me cry, my family, my friends even my own husband.
I don't know why.
I grew up in a family where crying was perfectly acceptable.
I was never told it made you weak, or less of a person,
but somewhere along the way I decided it just wasn't something you should do.

Vlog Part Deux

Hello all!  I'm back for another edition of Eighty MPH Mom's Monday Mingle!
I kept it short this week....the questions weren't overly exciting so no need to go on a 7 minute tangent.

Happy Monday!
PS Note to self.  Don't video in the basement anymore, holy bad lighting batman!

Roses and Thorns

  • Roses to an entire weeks worth of sleeping through the night!!  Since Mr. Boo was born I think this is the most consecutive nights of sleep I've gotten!  Woo hoo keep 'em coming!!
  • Roses to AAA who saved my butt this morning after locking my keys in the car
  • Roses to getting off work early a few days this week, I love getting to spend more time with my lil man!
  • Roses to the beautiful weather we've had....up until today.
  • Roses to losing another pound.....13 down and counting!
  • Roses to not being pregnant for our annual Wine Tasting this year!!  I tried lots and lots (and lots) of yummy things!  Maybe I need to start doing wine is the family biz afterall.
  • Roses to Target's online swimsuit selection.....I think I may have found enough lycra to cover my post baby booty!  And it's cute, double bonus!
  • Roses to planning vacations! Vegas will be our first real vacay since out first anniversary trip.....1 1/2 YEARS ago.  I think we were about due for one! (thanks for all the tips!)

  • Thorns to working on Saturday.  Blech.  At least it's only until 2.
  • Thorns to the rain today....and the forecast for the weekend.
  • Thorns to not having an endless supply of money somewhere.  I know money won't buy happiness....but it would fix my bathroom shower....and that would make me happy :)
Happy Friday Friends!!

Thank you Uncle Sam!

For the first time since I can remember,
good ole Uncle Sam is giving us money BACK this year!
Woo hoo!!!
While I probably should be thanking my son and his wonderful new tax deduction,
he's not the one actually cutting the check, so sorry kid, no credit for you!  :)
We have a lot of things we could do with this money...
pay off some bills
fix our house
put it into savings
But we're living on the edge.
Something I rarely do when large sums of money drop into my lap.
But I'm turning 30 in less than 2 months....
and my mom should have been turning 60 shortly after.
We were supposed to take a David girls trip to commemorate the occasion....
That's obviously not gonna happen anymore, which makes me all kinds of sad.
I toyed with the idea of not celebrating at all, our birthdays were a day apart and this year is going to be hard enough and I'm (still) not sure how I'm going to feel about celebrating, but my mom wouldn't have wanted me to let my special day go to waste.
So the hubs and I are taking our new found moolah, packing our bags and heading to VEGAS!
Neither of us have ever been, and what better place to spend the dirty thirty right?
To the Vegas veterans out there, any ideas on where to stay and must sees??

From the desk of James David Eyecansee.....

Hello friends!  Another month gone by, can you believe it!  I was EIGHT months old on Saturday!
It's been pretty exciting around here.
I finally rolled over!  Mom got so excited, waving her arms around and "woo hooing" you'd think she won the lotto.  Instead it just got the dogs all riled up which caused moose to jump on me and scare me to death.  Good job mom.  I calmed down pretty quick though and rolled over again!  Mom tried to tape it, but by that 3rd time I was kind of done with it and refused.  I'm stubborn, what can I say!
I also got my top front teeth this month.  About time, I've been a drool machine!  The left one has completely broken through, the right one is soon to follow.  I've been putting my teeth to good use too, eating puffs and mum-mums like a champ.  Mom tries to tell me not to shove 50 into my mouth at once, but what fun is that!?!  I'm usually just so stoked one actually gets in my mouth!  I also eat two "solid" meals a day now.  Moving on up in the world of food and loving it!  My favorite are the Plum Pouches.  YUM!  Mango's are my top choice with the Spinach, Peas and Pears a close second.  Daddy thinks it's funny that I seem to prefer the organic foods.  What can I say, I have good taste!  Maybe I'll be a chef when I grow up just like Great Grandpa George!
Speaking of Great Grandparents....I helped celebrate my Great Grandma Helen's 97th Birthday this month!  97!  Wow!  She doesn't always know who I am, but she sure thinks I'm cute!  Do you blame her?!
I'm still not crawling, but I'm getting pretty good at scooting on my butt.  I've discovered I can open the doors on the TV stand and will entertain myself with it for hours.  Open.  Slam.  Laugh.  Repeat.  I also like to stand holding on to things.  My crib.  The couch.  The table.  You name it, I'll hang on to it.  I haven't quite mastered pulling my own self up though....usually it looks like I'm doing chin ups before I give up and sit back down.  Mom thinks I'm trying to stand up on my own, but really I'm just working out the guns.
I went to the doctor yesterday for my ear infection follow up.  All clear!  They also weighed me....18.6 pounds!  Not sure how tall, but mom guesses I'm closing in on 29.5-30 inches by the way my clothes are fitting.  I can still wear some of my 9 mos things, but all my new summer clothes are 12 mos and fitting pretty good.  Mom packed away most of my too small clothes and can't believe I ever fit into some of those tiny little things!

My hair is looking a little Strawberry Blond these days and mom thinks I may be a red head.  It looks different all the time so who knows!  One things for sure though, it's getting LONG!  The sides are over my ears and the front is in my eyes all the time!  The baby comb over just isn't cutting it anymore!  Daddy wants to cut it, mommy can't bring herself to do it yet.  Plus she's not convinced I'll sit still long enough for someone even if she tried.  I may be rocking to Justin Bieber for just a few more months!

Until next month...peace out!

Today I popped my Vlog cherry

A few of my favorite bloggers have been doing Eighty MPH Mom's Monday Mingle.
They've all been super cute and fun to watch.
So I did it.  I vlogged.
And it wasn't so bad.
It was actually kind of fun.
Once you get past all the random eye wandering because staring at the camera was too weird and of course the obligatory vlog "ummmms."  But I think it turned out ok.....
Here's to hoping the movie is just as good as the book!

Happy Monday Friends!

Saturday Morning Scene

Saturday Morning Scene

It's a beautiful morning here in KC!
Perfect weather to finally get the diapers outside after a loooong winter of drying indoors!
Nothing cuter than looking out the window to see a sea of color blowing in the wind!

Also picked up some of these.... fill up our empty window boxes!
It's shaping up to be a beautiful day!
Happy Saturday friends!

Roses and Thorns!

  • Roses to one of my fave bloggers KLaw for bringing back roses and thorns!  Oh how I've missed them!
  • Roses to finally finding time to blog.....did ya miss me?!  This week has been crazy busy with work....oh and that sinus infection that decided to come back didn't help my cause either.
  • Roses to Vampire Diaries coming back this week.  (Yes I admit to watching this show does my husband.  Judge if you must)
  • Roses to my son who finally rolled over!  Just shy of 8 months, better late than never!
  • Double roses to my son who's finally sleeping through the night again!!
  • Roses to some fabulous weather lately.  Though we hit a record last Sunday....92!  Holy cow!
  • Roses to Bday lunches with the girls....and baby boys that behave the whole time!
  • Roses to fun nights out with friends!  Pirate balls, "members only" bars, tang shots and girl in boots.  Who knew these two old married people could still have a good time!
  • Roses to grandpa's who have sleepovers with their grandson so the above mentioned could have a much needed night out!

  • Thorns to falling off the MILF wagon this week.  I blame the sinus infection.....and the PMS.....and the mini cadbury eggs.
  • Thorns to the CD player in my car being lately has sucked serious ass and it's making my already redonkulous commute feel even longer.  Seriously Rihanna?  You love the smell of sex in the air?
  • Thorns to Rihanna and her stupid catchy song that won't get out of my head!
  • Thorns to the double ear infection that had my poor little man in fits last week.  Here I thought he was just fail.
  • Thorns to the estimate we got to fix our ever leaking basement.  Yikes that's a big number!!  Maybe those cracks aren't so bad afterall.....and really, who needs dry wall?  Studs and bare concrete are rustic right???
  • Thorns to our Homeowners Association for making us feel like lazy W.T.  What?  You mean Christmas lights in April aren't cool??  Let's just call them Easter lights and move on.
Happy Friday peeps!

Saturday Morning Scene

Saturday Morning Scene

Catching up on the DVR with my favorite early riser!
Oh....and Grey's?  Stick to the drama and leave the singing to Glee.
That episode was one weird, hot mess!

Off to get my hair done, Happy Saturday!
