Flashback Friday

One of my good friends welcomed her first baby into the world last week!  She texted me a picture of her new bundle of joy all tucked into his car seat ready to head home.  Seeing this itty bitty little baby being practically swallowed up by his huge car seat immediately made me think of this picture.
I remember how anxious we were to go home.  To get out of the hospital.  After 3 days I'd had enough!
I remember the nurse walking us out to the car.  That's when it hit me.  Oh my god.  We're really leaving.  And we have to take this thing precious baby home with us.  ALONE.  With no more nurses.  No more lactation consultants.  No more nursery to send him to when I wanted to sleep.  Holy shit.
I remember sitting in the back seat with him.  Watching him sleep the whole way home.  A calm coming over me.  Ok.  We can do this.  Look at him, he's perfect.
I remember coming home and putting him in his crib for the first time.  His first nap at home.  The hubs and I immediately collapsing into our own bed.  Exhausted.  We were totally going to "sleep when the baby slept."  Heck yeah!  This is awesome.
Then I remember not more that 2 minutes later that sleeping angel started to cry and my husband looked at me and said "This is going to be really hard isn't it...."

I don't think I'll ever forgot that day.  The day we came home as a family of 3.  It also makes me realize just how fast time really goes.  How in just 18 short months we've gone from that tiny little baby to Mr. Independent.

How's that for a sappy Flashback?
Happy Friday Friends!

Flashback Friday

Five years ago today, my best friend got married.

We got up early for breakfast and mimosas.

We napped.

We got all dolled up

We ran to CVS because no one had waterproof mascara and we knew we'd need it!

We ate her last single girl meal at Wendy's

I laced up her gown

We took turns at the fan, because it was seriously the hottest day of the year!
I covered up her Groom's eyes and walked him down the aisle before he saw her for the first time.

I stood beside her as she said "I do"

She smashed cake in my face

And we danced all night long

It was definitly a night to remember!!

Happy 5th Anniversary Nikki and Joe!!

Flashback Friday

Five years and 60 payments later.....
It's all paid off!!
Here's what was happening back in July 2006 when I bought my first car!

I was 25.

I still lived in Ohio.

I only had one dog.  Just me and Kasey against the world!

I was dating this shmuck.  What was I thinking?!?

Do I make you Proud by Taylor Hicks was the number 1 song.  Really?  Wow.  What was America thinking?!?

Gas was a "record high" $3.06 a gallon.  Huh.  Sure wish it was that "high" now!

I apparently enjoyed drinking and dancing on the boat.
Wait....what?  I still do?  Well I guess some things never change.

If I only knew just 5 short years later these two goofballs would be my everything!
 Happy Friday!

Flashback Friday!

In honor of our 11 1/2 car ride to Ohio last night, I thought it only fitting to flashback to our last 4th of July here in the good ole Cbus!

July 2007

Every year in Columbus, the Friday before the 4th is the annual Red, White and Boom festivities.  Since my condo was across the street from the action, my friends and I would often gather for the day in Goodale Park.  Eat.  Play some Bocce or Cornhole.  Drink.  Eat some more.  Just some All American good times complete with a fireworks finale!!  Then every year on the 4th, one of the oddest parades you'll ever see would take place right outside our window.  The Doo-dah parade!  It's an "unreal" parade where the slogan reads "Celebrate Liberty & Lunacy, 'Cause you can!"  And the only rule in the books is no nudity.  Everything else is fair game!  It really is something, can't wait to take Jamie for his 1st this year!

Happy 4th of July!

Flashback Friday (and a Jamie update)

Thank you everyone for your comments, tweets, FB messages, emails, texts and phone calls!
Way to make a girl feel loved!
Poor Mr James is hanging in there.  His face rivals that of any heavyweight boxer right now (there are pictures, but I can't bring myself to share them with the interwebs), but he still seems to be his same ole, happy self!  Stitches should come out on Sunday.
As for the dogs.  Well that's still up in the air.
In the end I know we'll make the right choice for our family.

Now, because this blog needs some serious funny......I bring you

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

I've been toying with this idea for months now.  Seriously.  Months.  Because I had a pretty awesome life pre-blogging days that none of you know anything about.  And how fun would it be to dig into the photo archives of the past and share with you stories of me before I became Mrs. EyeCanSee? So today when I saw one of my favorite bloggers (seriously, her blog was the FIRST I ever followed) The Heir To Blair do one, I figured it was time to get off my lazy butt and join in the fun!  Since I'm at work, my access to photos is limited to those on Kodak Gallery.  So I went and found the oldest one I could.

August 2005
Every summer my friends and I would go camping to an area just south of Columbus called Hocking Hills.  And by camping I mean cabins, indoor plumbing, hot tubs and general 20-something debauchery filled with lots of beer.....and smores.  Well on one of these infamous trips we were also celebrating the soon to be weddings of two different couples.  The guys decided they wanted to have a contest to see which Best Man was "The Best Best Man" and proceeded to craft Jousting Sticks circa 1980s Gladiator.  After they had their fun, my bestie (and bride to be), Nikki and I decided to take a stab at it ourselves.  Bride vs MOH.  I joked and said the winner got the longer train.  If memory serves me correct, I reigned victorious 3 out of all 3 matches, but I still let her have the longer train.  She was the bride after all.

Happy Friday!
