Greetings from the lake!

Hello 21st century! So now that my parents live at the lake full time they've finally broke down and got wireless Internet! :::happy dance::: Now on a lovely Sunday morning, coffee in hand, I can sit on the deck and blog. Ah. Such the life. Here's me view:

Got in to KC right on time Friday, only to be greeted by my hubs and the dog. I was so happy to see them both and Kasey was more than happy to see me with his usual greeting of high pitched squealing and excitement piddle. What a mama's boy he is! The rest of the afternoon consisted of QT with my sister in law. We got pedi's which I desperately needed and now my tootsies are decked out in OPI's Charged up Cherry. We did grocery shopping for the weekend. And then waited for our men to get outta work so we could pile in the car for the lake. My ultimate happy place.

Saturday while the parents worked at the motel the 4 "kids" packed a cooler and headed for Party Cove. It was a quiet day in the cove but we tied up with some fun boats. I scored a recipe for Texas Caviar which I will post later. Oh. My. God. It was good. And for the 2nd time in 2 weeks I saw man junk. What is with all these men, don't they know no one wants to see that! And he wonders why at 35 he still hasn't found a woman who will put up with him. Boys! After a full day in the sun we headed back in for some dinner. I played chef and made kabobs and brownies from scratch. They were delish. :::pats self on back:::

Today's forecast isn't looking too promising, so my morning jet ski ride is probably a no-go. Maybe we'll head back in to KC early. I'm looking forward to meeting with the sub agency tomorrow. I've decided if she thinks she can promise me steady temp jobs, I'm putting my two weeks notice in when I return. It's going to be easier for me to job hunt for something permanent if I'm in Kansas City and can be available for interviews at a moments notice. We have also had 3, THREE, showings at the condo since I've been gone. And two were the same person. Here's to hoping!!

I leave you with pictures of Moose and "Grandpa." This is how we found the two of them Friday night....even the camera flash couldn't disturb their peaceful slumber. Looks like Moosey is quite at home with my parents. My dad says we may not get him back! We will see about that! Happy Sunday lovelies!

Off jet setting again!

I leave for Kansas City to visit the hubs already! YAY! And I get to stay until Tuesday afternoon! Double YAY!! I'm going to have to soak in as much as I can because it could be Aug 7 before we see each other again. Ugh. That sounds horrible, I won't even think about it yet. My bestie Maria is picking me up bright and early to drive me to the airport, I'm setting two alarms so I don't oversleep. I have a tendency of incorporating my alarm into dreams and shutting it off when I need to be up before 5am. Definitely don't wanna miss this flight!

Adam and Kasey are picking me up from the airport and then the rest of the day I'm bumming around with my sister in law. When the boys get out of work, we're headed to the lake until Sunday. I'm going to get spoiled with all this lake time now that we won't be 10 hours away, which it totally awesome. Then on Monday I have a meeting with one of the dental placement agencies in KC. I talked with the woman yesterday and she said they have both permanent and temporary jobs available right now. She seemed really positive that finding temp jobs wouldn't be a problem. Even if I just cover a 12 week maternity leave for someone...it's something and gets me and the hubby in the same time zone. Plus it's a foot in the door, a lot of full time jobs come from subbing. So here's to hoping! And we have a showing on Saturday. Please let them be normal. I've been a mad woman tonight....cleaning, doing laundry and packing. Whew! I will be happy to see my pillow in a little bit.

Hope you all have a speedy rest of the week and a fantabulous weekend!! Catch up with you all soon!

This is me....take it or leave it

So yesterday my favorite fellow Kansas City girl Domestic Goddess tagged me to do the Honest Scrap challenge. Basically I have to tell you 10 honest things about me you may or may not already know. Hopefully I don't lose any viewers after this truth or dare session cause most of these revelations will result in mini tantrums and lots of incoherent rambling..... =) Here goes nothin'

::::steps on soapbox::::

1.) I love my husband....and I miss him. However last night, my first night alone, was wonderful. I harnessed my inner single chic. I sat in my lazy pants all night. Ate a random assortment of food for dinner. Blogged for hours and didn't feel guilty. Watched crappy shows on the DVR. Went to sleep with the TV off and the thermostat set above the freezing level. And I didn't have to let a dog out....not once. It was awesome.

2.) I am a Dental Hygienist. I am not the person who hands instruments to the dentist. I did in fact go to college. I have my Bachelor's Degree...in Dental Hygiene. When you ask me a question, please don't then ask the doctor again later because you will hear the exact same answer. I am smart. I know what I'm talking about, probably more so than he does. This is my chosen career. Not a stepping stone on my way to dental school. I have no desire to be a Dentist. I love what I do. So please, uneducated people of the world, stop undermining my profession.

3.) I loathe seafood. If it swims I won't eat it. I've tried many different kinds over my lifetime and not found one edible thing. It smells funny, has a weird texture and more times than not looks exactly the way it did when it was still alive. It freaks me out. My brother used to taunt me with crab legs..in fact he still does. I hate when I reveal this fact and people go, "But you eat *insert seafood here* right???" No. What part of I DON'T LIKE SEAFOOD did your brain not digest.

4.) I go out in public in sweatpants. Not ALL places, but the grocery store, video store, Target....those kind of places. My husband used to hate this. We'd go to leave and he'd say "you aren't changing?" Nope. I'm not. Take it or leave it...we aren't going to the opera, it's just Giant Eagle. I doubt the lady at the check out counter will care.

5.) I love candy. More so than most people. Chocolate. Sweet. Sour. I'm not opposed to any of it. I have been known to eat an entire bag of peanut butter M&Ms in one evening. And I'm not talking the small bag.

6.) I'm from the Midwest. I did not grow up on a farm. Tip cows. Drive a tractor. I lived in a house. In the suburbs. Went to the mall. Perhaps you should drive through "fly over" country before you assume there is nothing between NYC and LA. What really gets me are the people from Ohio who think they're exempt from this stereotype. Kansas. Ohio. It's really all the same. Lately when I tell people around here I'm moving to Kansas City, I get blank stares. If it's not Florida, Myrtle Beach or the Outer Banks these people are clueless. There are cool places west of the Mississippi. Trust me. Oh and BTW....KC is twice the size of Columbus. Read a map people.

7.) I don't get the Twilight obsession. I read the first book. I saw the movie. Those are hours of my life I will never get back.

8.) I think the medicaid system is a great tool for those in need. I see children everyday at work who benefit from this government "gift." I don't, however appreciate the women that come into my office with a litter of children, all with different fathers, who think it's their right to have "free" dental care. I work hard and worry how I will support a family some day. I don't have children with random men so I can claim even more welfare, while the teeth rot out of my kid's head because I have spent all my money on flashy clothes and designer purses and can't even buy them a toothbrush.

9.) I have two dogs. They poop a lot. Sometimes at night or in the dead of winter...when no one is looking...I don't pick it up.

10.) I want to have 4 kids. Yes you heard me, four. Two boys, a girl and another boy. I know I can't actually control this. Stop telling me I won't want that many once I've had one. Why don't you let me decide...it's my uterus and I'm not asking you to raise them. I've had names picked out for years. Unfortunately so has my husband....and his taste in names is, well, not quite what I had in mind. I don't want to know the sex before they're born. It's life's last surprise. I can buy all the pink or blue clothes after they are born. People did it for years. My child will not remain "gender neutral" it's whole life. Most little girls dreamt of their wedding day....I've always dreamt of being a mom. Now that I've found the love of my life, I can't wait to get started!

::::steps off soapbox::::

So there's a little insight into what makes me....me. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone or send you packing in the opposite direction! Now it's your turn to bare it all. Here are the next Honest Scrap victims

Time to play catch-up

***Warning the following message is going to be lengthy, I promise to keep it light and entertaining with my charm, witty humor and classic good looks***

Whew! What a whirlwind, emotion filled, crazy weekend!! First of all, HELLO to all my new followers! Who knew so many people would enjoy the crazy ramblings of my life! Welcome and thanks for stopping by...hope you enjoy the ride!

Second, catching up on almost a weeks worth of blogs is tough work! Good thing the Mr. isn't here, he already thinks I'm blog addicted. Which really isn't far from the truth....I probably should seek counseling. However I've fully admitted to the "problem", so I guess I only have 11 steps to go! Woo hoo look at me!

The weekend was great, except of course for the whole leaving my hubby and dogs behind...that part I could have done without. On Friday, I successfully trailered the jet ski with the moral support of my mother-in-law all the way to the Lake of the Ozarks. Almost 10 grueling hours....yuck. I had forgotten how loooong that drive is, I've had the Mr. to handle the driving the past few years so trips for me meant catching up on magazines and books. The weather was less than ideal, overcast and humid as hell....the fireworks Saturday night were halted by a surprise down pour. So much for the weather boy (seriously he looks 12) saying it would be all clear for "fire in the sky." Yes.. He really called it that. What we did see though was amazing, there were people setting them off all over, it was like fireworks in surround sound. All in all a successful 4th of July.

Sunday evening we left Moose with my parents and headed to Kansas City. Got the hubs and Kasey all settled in. That night we were laying in bed the Mr. put his head on my feet and said, "I'm going to miss laying on your feet when you leave." I looked at him slightly confused, but touched none the less and said, "Hun...in two years I think this is the first time you've ever laid your head on my feet." Boys are so silly, but I could tell he was really starting to be upset I was leaving which was cute.

Monday morning came and went, he left for work, we said our goodbyes. It was hard and full of tears, but I'm going back early Friday morning so that made it easier. I went to my interview that afternoon. We won't even go there. I've decided they forget to teach dentists how to run a business after all the drilling and filling because almost every interview I've ever gone on has been rather unorganized. The woman still couldn't even give an idea what my exact position would be. Ugh. How frustrating. At this point, if she ever gets her act together...I'm not even sure I'd want the job. She certainly didn't make a good impression. So we'll see what comes of that. After the interview my mother-in-law and I once again packed up the car and got on the road. We lost an hour in construction but my lead foot helped make up a little of the time and we rolled into Columbus shortly after 2am. I got a little teary eyed when I walked into my now somewhat empty home, but it was short lived when my head hit the pillow. I was out like a light! Back to life. Back to reality.

Last but certainly not least, in my absence I received my very first blog award. EEK! How exciting! Thanks to the always entertaining Ashley over at Pink-ture Perfect for the One Lovely Blog Award.

So, this award comes with some rules! Who would've thought?!? Here they are:
1.) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his/her link.
2.) Pass the award to 5 other bloggers that you have newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

So I'm passing this award along to:
I love Brownies @ Brownies for my Breakfast
Well I finally made it to the end. Do I still even have anyone with me?? I don't blame you for jumping ship. Next week I will be introducing "Tasty Tuesdays." I have a slew of healthy recipes I've been wanting to try, but don't always want the poor hubs to be a constant guinea pig. So now that I'm back to cooking for one....I'm going to try some new things out. Be on the lookout for it!

Home and Hubs-less

Helloooo out there in blog land. I have returned.....minus the Mr. and the dogs. Didn't get in until 2AM but the house already feels empty. Who knew my 800 sq ft could feel so big! I miss my family!

And we're leavin' on a jet plane....

Ok, so technically we're driving, but I didn't want to totally botch the song. Tomorrow morning we officially pack up the hubs for Kansas City. We're going to pick up his mom and the jet ski bright and early hoping to be back on the road by 6am. Yuck. The plan is to drive straight to my parents lake house for the weekend and then on Sunday go to KC. I have a meet and greet sort of interview with a dental office on Monday and then me and my mother in law will drive back to Ohio...sans my hubby and the pups!

*insert water works here*

Hope everyone has a GREAT 4th of July weekend!! I leave you with two of my favorite summertime recipes to tide you over until my return!

Summer Beer
1 can frozen lemonade concentrate
Vodka
3 cans Light Beer

In large pitcher empty frozen lemonade. Fill lemonade can with vodka, add to pitcher. Mix. Add 3 beers. Enjoy! It sounds kind of weird, but believe me, its so good on a hot summer day.

Grilled Veggies
1 Zuchinni
1 Yellow Squash
1 Red Pepper
Pea Pods or Sugar Snap Peas
(you could use any veggies really, these are just my staples)
Olive Oil
Seasoning of your choice

Cut all the veggies and put in mixing bowl. Toss with olive oil and seasoning. Put everything in a grill pan, cook on med to med high heat. Check often and flip so bottom veggies don't burn. Cook to desired tenderness....about 8-10 minutes.

Holy cow!

First of all. Holy cow why is my face breaking out like a 12 year old boy?!? Ugh! Go away ugly chin pimples!

Second of all. Holy cow we've been married 6 months?!? That's crazy. I'm not sure when we techincally are supposed to celebrate since we were married 12/31 and there is no 6/31.....so I guess I will honor the occasion today! It seems like only yesterday I was walking down the aisle and now here we are, two days from moving and taking the biggest leap of our lives! What a difference 6 months makes! Here's a few pictures from our fabulous day where I married my best friend and officially became Mrs. EyeCanSee....enjoy!
