He Said/She Said

She said: I dyed my hair.....how's it look?
He said: Great!  Totally looks darker.
She said:  Really?  Cause I went lighter.
He said:  Oh.  Well honestly it looks exactly the same
but I figured that would be the wrong answer.

He's probably right....

That's why her hair is so big.....because it's full of secrets

Day 6: Movies

My all time favorite, will never get old, can recite every line kinda movie is Mean Girls.
I mean really, it's classic.  And who doesn't appreciate a little vintage Lohan.

Varsity Blues became a big group favorite in college.  The one we'd all quote, and make fun of, but secretly enjoyed.

Rent is my favorite musical, and for a re-make, the move is pretty good.
After seeing it on stage countless times with limited sets and props, it was pretty cool to see it all come together on the big screen.  Plus they used the original cast which was totally awesome.

Annie was my favorite movie as a kid.  Apparently I watched it so many times I wore the tape out.

And of course, The Girl Next Door.  For without this movie, my wedding band may have been engraved with something generic and my blog may have been nameless.
Funny how a movie about a porn star could be so life altering.  ;)

So spill, what are some of your favorite flicks?

Smile captured!

Day 5: A picture that makes you happy

Lately my little ham has not been so happy in front of the camera.  All I've been getting are scowls and dirty looks, or sideways glances because....please mom, I'm way too busy to pause, even for a moment.  So last week when I finally caught a smile, I was ecstatic!

{sorta} Silent Sunday: We are Family

Day 4: Family

Here we all are gathered around our jimmy rigged TV setup so we could watch the K-State Wildcats squeak out their first win of the season!  If last nights game is any indication of the rest of the season, it's going to be a looooong one!

That dirty little four letter word......WORK

Day 3: Tell us about your J-O-B

Work?  On a Saturday??
Well thankfully I'm not actually working today, makes talking about it a bit more bearable!

As you already know, or maybe you don't, I'm a dental hygienist.
Yep.  That's me.  The mean lady at the dentist who picks and prods at your teeth and yells at you for not flossing.  At least, that WAS me.  For seven years.  When I worked in private practice.
These days I do a more non-traditional job and I love it!
I work for a Health Center on a dental program for kids called Pro*ject Rea.dy Smil*e.
Everyday I go out to Preschools and Early Education Centers throughout the KC Metro and do dental screenings on kids 6 weeks through 6 years of age.
I also get to do presentations about brushing your teeth and eating healthy foods along with my trusty sidekick Allie the Alligator.
He tends to steal the show most days.  Kids LOVE him!  And I love getting to work with kids all day.
Never a dull moment when they're involved!

Here's my "home base" aka the trailer where my office is.
Lovely isn't it?  They recently painted it grey....which I think makes it look a bit like a prison.
Irony at it's best.  I kid.  Sort of.
Since I'm in Outreach and don't spend a ton of time at the center I was annexed to the little building.
Not for long though!!
Here's the NEW building that we should be moving into by the end of the year!

Here's my desk where I do all the boring, not fun paperwork stuff.
Yes it's a mess.  Yes that's a tooth brushing monkey on the shelf.  And yes I have two computers.
The laptop is the one they got me so I could schedule appointments off site, but it's also the one that occasionally lets me surf the web.  Sometimes.  If the wireless card feels like working.

So that's it.  What I do Mon-Fri from 8-5.  Long term I wouldn't mind going back into private practice.  Especially if I could find a spot in a pediatric office like the one I was at back in Ohio.  Even better if it was only part time so I could spend a little bit more time with this guy!  He's a full time job for sure!

Happy Saturday friends!  Don't forget, if you want to join in on 30 days of fun, go link up with Katie!

The juice is worth the squeeze

Day 2: What's your blog all about

Two and a half years ago I found myself in need of a new hobby.
A year of wedding planning was over and our honeymoon was just weeks away.
I'd started following a few blogs though a message board I was active on and thought....what the heck.
I'm pretty funny.  I like to write.  My life needs an online scrapbook of sorts.
And so.....The juice is worth the squeeze was born.
I started out as a 20-something newlywed blogger and have slowly transformed into a 30-something mommy blogger.  I used to write about travelling, cooking and general newly married debauchery.  Now I write about teething, cloth diapers, toddler tantrums and working mom woes.
Oh how the times have changed.
I still try to keep it fresh though with the occasional He Said/She Said and a recipe or two.  And of course the letters to my mom.  But those are really more for me and her, because I know she's still up there reading!
As for the name.  Well that's a funny story, you can read all about here!

Happy Friday friends!

Blog Challenge....Take Two. Day 1.

The last time I tried this.  It was a big fat fail.
To my defense, my mom passed away in the middle of it....so I kind of lost my mojo.
So here we go again!
30 Days of Me....can you handle it!?!
