To the man with the bag....

Dear Santa,

Since the hubs and I aren't exchanging gifts this year for Christmas OR our Anniversary due to the fact that we're broke ass poor on a budget, I'm relying on you for all my Christmas wishes. (And I do mean wishes!  I wouldn't in my right mind expect anyone but you Santa to splurge on these)  I've been really good this year and tried to keep the wifey bitchiness to a minimum, but let's face it, no body's perfect.  And while I don't like to guilt people into things, despite the fact that my beautiful son was born, this year may go down as the crappiest year ever....so have a little pity and throw a few extra good tidings my way.  I'll even provide a list.
A pink laptop so I don't have to blog in the dungeon basement all the time.  Plus who doesn't love pink?

Coach Madison print Sophia Satchel

Coat from American Eagle

Classic Silver Bead Earring from T&Co

A pair (or two) of Tory Burch Revas

A kindle....so maybe I'll actually start reading those books for book club
A Canon Rebel XSI....the mother of all cameras, or so they tell me

Easy enough right?  Happy Shopping!

XOXO,

PS  I'll even make sure to leave out a few extra cookies for you.....and I'll spike the nog.

So What Wednesday

So What.....
  • If every time I sing Feliz Navidad I like to pretend I can actually speak Spanish.  My husband begs to differ.
  • If the last time I got my hair done....I was still pregnant.  Roots are 'in' right?
  • If I get a little irked when Jamie fills his pants for me as soon as we get home from daycare.  He was there for 9ish hours....he couldn't have done it on their watch?
  • If I can't put Jamie in anything that says "grandma" on it.  I feel bad for my mother in law, she's his grandma too after all, but I'm guessing she will understand
  • If sometimes (like last night) the only reason I'm making Chicken Stir fry is because I really just want the little eggrolls
  • If I actually screamed a little when the cafe by my work started serving Starbucks Eggnog lattes
  • If I haven't balanced my checkbook in months.  I have a general idea how much is in there, that's good enough right?
  • If some mornings I put Jamie in his exersaucer and turn on cartoons so I can take a shower.  Surely those 15-20 minutes of TV time aren't going to rot his brain
  • If my husband calls me to tell me he's driving himself to the hospital because he cut his finger open on a broken bottle...and the first thing I said was "OMG.....don't get any blood in the new car!"
  • If I haven't bought a single Christmas present yet.  That's what Christmas Eve is for....duh
  • If I polished off a bag of Christmas candy while reading this months issue of Shape.  What?  They cancel each other out in my mind.....my hips don't agree.

Tasty Tuesday ~ Turkey Reubens

So I honestly don't remember where I came across this little gem.  Cooking Light?  Shape magazine?  It was definitely a low fat recipe, hence the using of turkey instead of the traditional corned beef.  Either way the sandwiches are delish.....though I'm guessing my side of fries negates the lower fat version.
Oh well.
Enjoy!

Turkey Reubens
Bread (I use the Rye/Pumpernickel variety.....I think the swirls are fun)
Turkey (Last time I was at the deli they had turkey pastrami so I got that, it was nothing short of awesome)
1000 Island Dressing
Sauerkraut
Swiss Cheese

Lightly butter the "outside" of the bread...aka the part that will touch the pan
On the "inside" of the bread....aka the part that won't touch the pan...spread on some 1000 Island Dressing
Layer as much turkey, kraut and cheese as your heart desires.  I find placing the cheese closest to the outside helps with the melting.
Cook each side of your sandwich till perfectly golden brown
Eat

Bon Appetite!

Hoo's the cutest baby ever?

Jamie that's "hoo!"
(Mom this hat is totally stupid and one day I'm going to get you back for this......)

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree!

As much as I've been dragging my feet to get the tree trimmed, when I finally got to it, it was like a walk down memory lane.  That's what I love about our tree.  It's like the story of our lives and every year I pull out the ornaments it's like reliving moments, events and vacations all over again.  Plus there's the excitement of putting all the new ornaments on that we've collected since the last Christmas.  While I have nothing against themed trees, heck we did one last year since all our things were in storage, there's nothing better than the hodge podge tree of ornaments you've picked up through the years.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  Here's a little peak into the 2010 chapters of our lives....ornament style!

12.31.09
We celebrated our 1st Anniversary at Big Cedar Lodge
April 15, 2010
We closed on our first home!
8.9.10
Our family of two became a family of three!
Jamie's First Christmas!
10.27.10
I lost my mom, my best friend.
I didn't go looking for an ornament to commemorate this occasion, it's not necessarily something I want to relive every year when I trim the tree....but when I saw this in the store, hanging ironically right next to the Baby's First Christmas ornaments, I knew I had to have it.  Now every year when I see it hanging on the tree, I know my mom is there in spirit.

Exersaucer -1, Me - 0

That's it.
I fully admit defeat.
Me and children's toys do NOT get along.
Why do they have to make it so stinkin' hard to put these things together?!?
I mean really.
I'm smart.
I can read.
I went to college.
I have a degree.
But an exersaucer?
That's what trips me up at the end of the day?

It looks all nice and pretty on the box.
See that stupid smiling baby?
His mommy is obviously smarter than me,
Because I can't for the life of me get that freakin' piano on.
Apparently you're supposed to be able to lock it in with the simple twist of a button.
HA!
You know what I did with mine after several hours (ok it was probably 5 minutes) of trying?
Picked it up and threw it at the wall.
Yep.
I did.
I went there.
And it felt good.

So What Wednesday

So what......
  • If I was excited to take Jamie to daycare on Monday.  After a full week at home with him I was ready for a little adult time at work.
  • If we went to the grocery store on Monday night....spent $75 on groceries....and then went to McDonald's for dinner.
  • If while at McDonalds I got chicken nuggets and orange drink.  I am well aware of the fact that I'm no longer 5 years old, but whatever, it was delicious.
  • If our main topic of conversation these days involves poop and/or boogers.  Yes, we're those people.
  • If I tell people I cloth diaper to save money but can't stop buying new ones.  They're just so stinkin' cute!  Hi my name is Mrs. EyeCanSee and I'm a cloth-a-holic.
  • If I told the hubs I wanted fleece footie pajama's just like Jamie.  They look so warm and cozy!
  • If I'm tempted to make my son wear socks on his hands.  They don't stay on his feet and I'm tired of his nose looking like he took a hack saw to it.  I swear I trim his nails all.the.time.
  • If I consider cooking pasta with jar sauce and frozen meatballs for dinner a gourmet meal.
