A day late and a dollar short.

Make that a week late.
Cause who doesn't love a good holiday recap post.
Especially one that's late to the party.
Oops.  My bad.
I'll make it short and sweet!
We colored eggs!
Thankfully only 8.  Because they're all still sitting in my fridge.
What can I say, we aren't big egg eaters around here.
They sure did look good though!
The bunny brought more swag than Santa.
This was just the basket from mom and dad.
There were THREE others between all the grandparents.
Can you say spoiled?!
The theme of the year was definitely CARS!
If it had Mater or Lightening McQueen on it, he got it.
Oh.  And fruit snacks in his eggs.
HUGE hit!
My dad baked the cutest Easter egg nest cupcakes.
From scratch.
Just call him Betty Crocker!
We may or may not have put the leftover buttercream frosting on our waffles for breakfast.
Let's just say I didn't count points that day!
We headed over to the Country Club where Uncle Matt works to meet the Bunny.
Compared to last year where Jamie wouldn't come within 5 miles of him, I'd say it was a huge improvement!
While we waited for the big hunt to start, I managed to get our annual family picture!
Not our best, but believe me, compared to Easter's past.....definitely not our worst!
Jamie hunted eggs like a pro.  Seriously.  I had to do a double take as I watched him skip through the grass collecting his eggs.  Like he's been doing it for years.  Who is this big kid?!

We ended the day eating lunch with some family friends.....eating more candy.....hunting more eggs....and running around pantless, cause when you're 2 1/2, apparently anything goes!

Happy {ridiculously belated} Easter!

Is this thing on?

Hi remember me?
The girl who used to blog here?
Life's been pretty busy!
Here's what we've been up to!

We Respected the Turkey

Watched the infamous Kansas City Plaza Lights come on

We spent Black Friday at Union Station with PePaw
Jamie was in train heaven!

We adopted our Elf on a Shelf aka Sugarbell who has already been up to plenty of mischief.  Every morning we go look for her and it usually results in lots of giggles. "Mama....what Sugarbell doing?  Sugarbell is soooo silly!"

And we've officially decked the halls!

The holiday season is in full swing and watching it through the eyes of a 2 year old has been pretty awesome.  Every little thing amazes him and gets plenty of ooohhs and awwws and oh that's so pretty!  He's even been talking about going to see Santa, a rite of passage we haven't experienced yet.  Can't wait to see what joys the rest of the season brings!

Bunny!! Hop hop hop!

This Easter was a blast!
I feel like it's the first holiday that Jamie has actually understood.
Or at least knew it was something special.
Every time he saw a bunny he'd laugh and say "Bunny!!  Hop hop, hop!"
I just about died every time.
Where does he come up with this stuff!
We kicked off the festivities with an Easter Egg hunt bright and early Saturday.
Unfortunately the actual hunt was rained out and moved inside, but he still got to collect some eggs for his basket.  And who doesn't love an excuse to wear preppy clothes two days in a row!
He wasn't a huge fan of the actual Easter Bunny aka the person in the creepy suit.
But can you really blame him?  About as close as he would get was a high five and a wave goodbye.
Maybe next year he'll be a little more courageous!
Sunday morning we were up bright and early to check out what the bunny brought.
Books.  Always a safe choice.  And Finger Paints.  The bunny got brave.  I blame Pinterest.
You'll notice all the loot was promptly removed and replaced with plastic eggs.
Note to the bunny.  Next year save your money.  Just bring eggs.
Oh.  And don't wait until the last minute to order an Easter shirt and then be left with only one option which gets ordered in a youth size 2-4 NOT a 2T.  Oops.
Bunny fail.
Mom.  I am not amused by my shirt dress.
Thankfully his real Easter Duds fit much better.
Cause we all know real men wear pink.
And Easter wouldn't be complete without a family picture.
If you're really on the ball you'll notice I'm wearing the same dress as last year...
31.8 pounds later it needed a little tweaking, but surprisingly still worked!
I'm hoping next year that won't be the case!

Happy {belated} Easter!

Making Christmas Memories!

Linking up with From Mrs to Mama again!
This week we're talking about Christmas Traditions.
Love this!  I have a lot from when I was a kid and I can't wait to start some new ones with Jamie.
Here's just a few of the things I have up my sleeve.

Watching the Plaza lights turn on Thanksgiving night
This one started when my parents bought their condo here in Kansas City.  We all bundle up, grab some hot chocolate or Irish coffee and walk down to the Plaza.  It's such a fun way to kick off the holiday season.  Jamie's already managed to see it twice!

Elf on a Shelf

I'm sure by now you've all heard about this infamous little elf and all his crazy shenanigans.  Obviously Jamie is still a little young for it, but after seeing all the fun creative things parents have done on blogs and twitter, I can't WAIT until we can join in the fun!

Advent Wreath/Calendar

Growing up we always had an advent wreath.  Every night at dinner we'd light the candles and say the special prayer.  It's really important to me that my kids know the real reason we celebrate Christmas.  I really hate how commercialized it's all become so I will do anything I can to help them remember the true spirit of Christmas.

Christmas Jams
The hubs and I actually started this one the first year we were dating.  We picked out cheesy PJs to exchange on Christmas Eve.  We then proceeded to wear them the ALL Christmas day.  {Church excluded of course}  It was so nice to be casual and just lounge around all day.  Since then we've done it every year.  Once Jamie gets older I want his new PJs to be the one gift that gets opened Christmas Eve.

The Polar Express

This has been my favorite book for as long as I can remember.  Several years ago my best friend bought me a beautiful hardback edition that I've hung on to, just waiting to have a kids of my own.  Every year on Christmas Eve I want to read it together as a family.  One year I would also LOVE to head down to Branson where every holiday season they have an actual Polar Express train.  Kids wear their PJs and take a train ride to the North Pole to see Santa just like in the book.  How cool is that??

Christmas Pickle
I saw this in a store years and years ago and immediately knew its something I wanted to do with my own family some day.  Apparently it's a German American tradition where you hide this {pickle} ornament in the tree and the first one to find it either gets a special gift or gets to open the first gift.  What a fun way to get a little competition going Christmas morning!  I have visions of my children practically knocking the tree down to try and see who finds it first.  I can.not wait!

So what traditions new or old does your family do?

May the Force be with you

So THREE months ago the hubs sends me a text.
He's found Jamie's Halloween costume.
An Ewok.  You know, from Star Wars.
Seriously?  An Ewok?  Of ALL the Star Wars characters out there that's the one he picks.
Don't get me wrong.  A long time ago in a far away place I totally played My Little Ponies in my brother's Ewok Village.  They're cute.  They're cuddly.  But as a Halloween costume?  I wasn't sold.
Well three months later he finally wore me down.
An Ewok it is.
And I have to admit, he looked pretty darn cute.
Happy {Belated} Halloween friends!
