Pot meet kettle

Do you ever commit your own pet peeves?
You know...all the stuff that other people do that drives you crazy...
but when you do it, it's perfectly ok??

Today I got on the elevator at floor 2.
And got off on floor 3.
Lazy people like that drive me crazy and here I am....doing it too.
But I'm 8 months pregnant. Sweating like a pig. Exhausted.
I figured I was allowed a free pass.

I can't take it when people sing the wrong words to songs or mumble through.
I do it.
All the time.
Don't use your turn signal??
Or talk on your cell phone while driving??
I will be cursing at you from inside my car....
Probably while also talking on my cell phone and changing lanes with no signal.

It's awful really.
I should probably get a new list of pet peeves,
preferably bad habits that I don't already do myself.

Bump Day -- 34 Weeks

Sorry for the crummy pic....I was at work and trying to snap it before someone walked in and thought I was crazy!

How far along? 34 weeks

Weight gain/loss: 3 pounds this week...give or take. The scale gave me 5 different numbers so I took the lowest. Duh. I'm no fool. Haha. I suppose after 3 weeks of not gaining I can't complain...but it doesn't make me feel any less fat. Total: 23 pounds

Maternity Clothes? Yes and even those are starting to be too tight or too short. This week I actually retired my scrubs and switched to black yoga pants. Problem is I work 5 days a week and only have 1 pair. I'll let you do the math on that one. Yikes.

Sleep: Fine as long as I don't wake up with the worst heartburn ever!

Stretch marks: I shed a tear this week as I confirmed a few tiny little red stretch marks on my belly. So much for all the freakin' cocoa butter...what a sham!

Best moment this week: A man I don't know asked me when I was due. It only took 34 weeks but someone finally noticed I was pregnant...not just a huge fatty. I wanted to hug him.

Movement: Yep he was a moving and shaking to the radio in the car yesterday.

Food cravings: Anything that doesn't give me heartburn. Does Tums count as food??

Gender: Team Blue!

Labor Signs: Nothing yet....but there's this thing that happens called Lightening Crotch. It's about as pleasant as it sounds.

Belly Button in or out? In like Flynn.

What I Miss: Not being hot all the freakin time. If I could find a way to attach a fan to me I would.

What I'm looking forward to: Spending the weekend with my BFF and her little baby girl!

Weekly Wisdom: Resist the urge to punch people who remind you that if you think it's hot out now...just wait till July. Really? As if I wasn't already aware of this...thanks for sharing.

Milestones: I *think* we are actually done buying baby things for now. I got our pack and play and the last of my newborn cloth dipes ordered this week and the hubs assembled the bookshelf/storage piece. I'm sure I will think of something else we HAVE TO HAVE, but for now I feel pretty confident we have all the necessities. Now if only I could get the nursery in order.....

You're glowing!

Oh wait. No.
That's sweat.
Pouring out of every orifice of your body.
All.the.time.
Whoever called it "glowing" was just being nice.
Or from the South. They like to make everything gross sound lady like.
Cause there's nothing dewy and fresh faced about what happens to a pregnant lady in 95 degree heat and 100% humidity.
Next time around.
I'm shooting for a winter baby!

Bump Day -- 33 weeks!

At my shower last night...and yes I'm well aware of the fact that in this picture I'm both barefoot AND pregnant! It was the end of the night and my shoes were killing me!

How far along? 33 weeks

Weight gain/loss: Still even steven for the 3rd week in a row! Either my scale is broken or somehow the entire bag of M&Ms I consumed managed to do no damage. Total so far: 20 pounds

Maternity Clothes? Yep. I bought a cute new denim "mini" skirt last week because I miss my usual summer wardrobe! It's probably the last thing I'll buy, I'm just making the rest work until the end!

Sleep: Pretty darn good. I only get up once to pee and then sleep until about 7:30 every morning. It's glorious. I don't even set an alarm. Next week I have some early days so I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

Stretch marks: Nope.

Best moment this week: My last of four showers....yes four! It was the only one I didn't have to travel to which was wonderful! And I had a blast catching up with some of my KC ladies I hadn't seen in years. Everyone was so generous and I brought home another car full of loot! Baby James is one loved little man!

Movement: I feel more full body movements these days instead of actual kicks. I imagine he's gotta be running out of room in there!

Food cravings: Junk, junk and more junk. You all saw my lack of will power at the grocery store! I did have the Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil salad at Panera the other day though and it was pretty darn good...I could definitely go for another one!

Gender: Team Blue!

Labor Signs: Nada.

Belly Button in or out? Still in. No real change there.

What I Miss: Wine. I snuck a few sips at the shower yesterday and it was oh so delicious!

What I'm looking forward to: Our glider coming in! We ordered it last week at the big baby sale...however we didn't take into account the shipping time. She said anywhere from 4-6 weeks which is really pushing it for D-Day! Either way I can't wait for it...it's like the Cadillac of chairs!

Weekly Wisdom: Heartburn is a mysterious thing. Apparently you can eat Taco Bell and be just fine but a bowl of cereal and a banana will have you hurting all day long.

Milestones: I experienced baby hiccups for the first time the other night and then again yesterday at work. I feel sorry for the little guy cause I know how annoying they are for me!

Finders Keepers?

So I like to think I have good manners.
I am a big fan of please and thank you's.
I will hold the door open for strangers.
Smile at people when walking down the street.
I am the master at writing Thank You notes.
Nothing over the top...just common courtesy stuff.

Well last night while perusing my newest copy of Real Simple (fave magazine BTW!) I came across their etiquette question of the month.
Usually I pass with flying colors and agree with the answers given, but this time not so much.

The question asked what you should do if you find $40 cash on the floor of a restaurant?

My thought.
Woo hoo! It's my lucky day!
Finders keepers, losers weepers right?!

Wrong.

Apparently the "proper" way to handle this situation is to leave your contact information with the restaurant manager so you can attempt to return the money to it's rightful owner.

Really?

I mean, I would pick it up, look around, make a half assed attempt at seeing who may have dropped it, but after that it's mine. I suppose if it was A LOT of money sure I would turn it in, but for $40? Come on. If I was the one who dropped it, I'd be pissed and chalk it up as a loss. I wouldn't be calling around trying to find my lost cash.

But maybe that's just me and my apparently bad manners.

What would you do?

I am banned from grocery shopping

So yesterday I told my BFF I don't let the hubs go grocery shopping with me because it's like having a toddler in tow.

"Oohhh Doritos, can we get some?!"
"No"
"Ahhh....donuts, how 'bout some donuts?!?"
"No"
"COOKIES! Please can we get some cookies??"
"No."
"You're mean. You never buy anything fun!"
"Pretty much"

Well recently the tables have turned.
I ventured off to the store last night alone...list in hand.
I knew in the back of my mind I may buy a treat or two...what I didn't expect was a break down of all willpower driven by a 4 pound fetus.

In addition to all my usual healthy items, these things managed to jump into my cart all by themselves!

3 cans of Pringles
Ice Cream
Cookies
Sour Skittles
and a bag of Peanut Butter M&Ms.

Yikes!
I am no longer allowed to go grocery shopping until this junk food loving baby growing in my belly is out!
At least with these cravings we can't deny who the father is!

The eyes of Texas are upon us!

I never thought I'd say this....
but THANK YOU Texas!!
I raise my horns in your honor tonight!

You may have single handily saved the Big 12 from demise
and for that THIS Wildcat fan is forever grateful!

Not sure if any of the bloggers out there have been keeping tabs on all the college football conference switch-a-roos that have been going on...but it has had me quite upset. All those years of rivalry and tradition being ruined over greedy money hungry teams....conferences joining forces leaving the little guys behind. Not sure if it's all those extra hormones running through me or my true love of college football coming through but I actually almost shed a tear when I heard the news tonight that Texas declined their Pac-10 invite. With the Longhorns committed, the rest of the Big 12 south seems to be following suit leaving us with only 2 abandoners.

So now the Big 10 has 12 teams....and the Big 12 has 10 teams.
Confusing? I'd say so!
Especially when you cheer for both conferences!
But I can't wait to watch stupid Nebraska get beat up but the likes of Ohio State and Michigan. They thought Texas and Oklahoma were tough??
Haha. Good luck and good riddance Huskers!
Long live the Big 12....err the new Big 10!

Bump Day -- 32 Weeks

How far along? 32 weeks

Weight gain/loss: This week: Nothing again! Total: 20 pounds. I'll take it!

Maternity Clothes? You betcha, still rocking the pull up pants! Yesterday I was wearing my non-maternity maxi dress from last summer but threw a tank on underneath since my cups are well....overflowing. Well the tank is also non-maternity and hit me right about the belly button. Haha. Nice.

Sleep: Pretty good...I had one crappy night where I literally woke up every hour....on the hour. Tried sleeping in the guest room....no dice. Luckily it was just a one time thing!

Stretch marks: I suspect there's something small brewing on my belly. It cannot be confirmed as I can only see them in the mirror...which means they don't technically count right? At least they're tiny and only one or two. Stupid cocoa butter...what good are you!

Best moment this week: It's a toss up this week. Finishing the nursery painting was pretty freaking fantastic....considering it took us 3 different weekends to do 3, yes 3 coats of the cream, tape off and measure the stripes and then do 2 coats of the brown. That's a lot of painting. I also finally cashed in the pre-natal massage gift certificate the hubby gave me for Christmas. It was wonderful....though I could have done without all the chit chat. Doesn't she know I'm here to relax and forget that I'm pregnant...not spend an hour talking about pregnancy and babies with a woman I just met.

Movement: So now that Jamie is big enough some days depending on what position he's in I can actually feel him. I can't confirm what I'm actually feeling, probably back or butt, but it's definitely baby. Well the other night he was being pretty quiet, so I thought I'd see if I could find him in there, sure enough with just a few presses I found him, then apparently nudged a bit too hard and actually pushed him to the other side. It was maybe the weirdest feeling ever.

Food cravings: This week I've been dying for some good Mexican. I've had bean burritos for lunch everyday and killed a thing of Guacamole in one sitting. It was good. Now if I could only figure out how to make a non-alcoholic margarita we'd be in business!

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: Nope. Nothing since those weird cramps last week.

Belly Button in or out? In.

What I Miss: Standing up without assistance. Getting off the couch is like a work of art these days. Did someone cut the legs off this thing?? I do NOT remember it being so low to the ground!

What I'm looking forward to: Putting the nursery back together! I picked up a window valance yesterday and we're going to buy the glider this weekend! We're making progress people!

Weekly Wisdom: If you have the slightest indication that you may need to pee....just go. Trying to ignore it while doing the dishes will NOT work...it will only result in a mad dash to the bathroom where you may actually start to pee before your pants are fully down and your butt has hit the seat. Looks like I better step up the kegels stat!

Milestones: I think I had my first official stranger comment!! It wasn't a straight forward "when are you due" kind of thing....but she was talking about her kids then nodded at my belly and said she was just trying to warn me about what I was in for. Hey...that's close enough, I will take it!!

29 years and counting!

My 29th Birthday did not disappoint!
Though I must admit, 29 feels pretty old....and way too close to 30.
Oh well, things just get better with age right??
Take a look at the flowers from my hubby for example....just a few days later and they might be the most gorgeous roses I've ever seen!

I "slept in" until like 7:30....these days that's pretty darn good!
My parents were in town and my dad baked cinnamon rolls.
Yum!

We finished painting the nursery....
I'll give you a sneak peak as to what we've been working on.
It was kind of like standing in a fun house with all that painter's tape!

My brother and sister in law joined us for lunch....
steaks, fried potatoes, carrots, garlic bread....I drool just thinking about it.
And of course the annual David family DQ ice cream cake.
All 4 of our birthdays happen between May 14th and June 7th hence all the names....
this year 3 of us combined forces with just one big one.
I wasn't exaggerating when I said it was a family tradish,
I think I've had one just about every year since I was 7.

Thanks everyone for all the Bday wishes!!

Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah....they say it's your Birthday!

Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
It's MY Birthday too!!

So far my last 20 something Birthday has been a great one!
Yesterday I was showered with many special deliveries!
(The perk to having a bday on Sunday, you get to start celebrating a whole day early!)

In the morning the FedEx man dropped of these lovelies from my hubby

The mailman brought me a box of "fluff" ....

(Ok, so I ordered the diapers myself but I was super stoked to get them)

.....and numerous bday cards plus this awesome gift from my best friend Nikki! Can't wait till I can really put it to good use, I have my fave bottle already chilling in the wine fridge! Only 2 months till I can crack it open!

Then in the afternoon I was surprised yet again with a knock at the door...
COOKIES! My hubby said he spent all day baking...ha!

My mom and dad came into town last night and we're celebrating with the fam today!
And of course there will be DQ Ice Cream cake!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Bump Day -- 31 Weeks

How far along? 31 weeks

Weight gain/loss: This week: Nada. Thank. God. Total: 20 pounds. Yuck.

Maternity Clothes? Yes. And those scrubs that were falling down merely 6 weeks ago now practically cut off the circulation in my hips and thighs. Why is it my thighs and ass need to be getting wider?? Last time I checked they had NOTHING to do with my growing baby.

Dear thighs, you were big enough before I was pregnant, no need to get bigger. Please stop.
KThanksBye.
Mrs. E.

Sleep: Not bad. It would help if our bedroom wasn't so stinkin' hot. Murphy's Law would have it be the ONLY room in the house that's hot as hades....maybe I'll start sleeping in the guest room.

Stretch marks: No

Best moment this week: Having 3 days off was pretty fantastic!

Movement: Slowing down a bit but still pretty active....I imagine he'll start running out of room in there soon.

Food cravings: Dairy Queen ice cream cake which I will be getting Sunday for my birthday! Yay!

Gender: Snips and snails and puppy dog tails (anyone else not really get this nursery rhyme?)

Labor Signs: So I think I finally felt one of those Braxton Hicks contractions everyone talks about...and let me tell you, they're not painless. Unless you feel no pain when it seems someone's jabbed a knife in your side. I had a few over the weekend but nothing since. If this is a preview of real labor...I'm in for a rude awakening!

Belly Button in or out? In. I think at this point I'm in the clear.

What I Miss: My ankles. Somewhere in the last week or so I've lost all resemblence of an ankle bone. I noticed it for this first time while getting a pedicure, I now officially have cankles. Great.

What I'm looking forward to: Actually finishing the nursery this weekend. Well the painting part at least. This project has drug on loooong enough and it's time to get moving!

Weekly Wisdom: When you get random bouts of energy....take advantage of them!
Milestones: Had my first "I don't want to be pregnant anymore" moment. If you can call that a milestone. I think the heat has finally gotten to me...and I fear it's only going to get worse.
