Three years ago

Three years ago....
I woke up early because I was too excited to sleep...
I was drinking mimosas with my best friends....
Putting on the prettiest dress I've probably ever wear...
Taking deep breaths as I waited....
To walk down the aisle...
and say "I do."

Today....
I woke up early because I heard calls of "mama, mama!" coming from across the hall....
I'll be lucky to finish my cup of coffee....
And yoga pants are about as fancy as it will get.
But I wouldn't want it any other way.
Today I'll spend the day with not just one man, but two.
All because three years ago,
I said "I do."

Happy Anniversary Mr. EyeCanSee!
The best is yet to come!

He Said/She Said

She Said: I don't think I should
where this shirt anymore....

He Said:  Why?

She Said:  It's kinda low.
I feel like my boobs are busting out.

He Said:  And this is a problem?

Men.  Some days I think a 12 year old boy lives within them all.

My little Picasso

Ever since Jamie graduated to the Toddler room every week or so he comes home with an art project.
We proudly display each one on our fridge and admire our sons vast artistic abilities.
Until now.
Because this is what came home yesterday.

Let the guessing games begin.
Thankfully he's not old enough to know any better, because neither my husband nor I are entirely sure what exactly this is.
We see his foot prints.  We got that part.  But past that we got nothing.
A tree?
Some mistletoe?  Get it...mistle-"toes"?
I know, it's a stretch.
Sorry kid, but it looks like you inherited your art skills from your mama.

Making Christmas Memories!

Linking up with From Mrs to Mama again!
This week we're talking about Christmas Traditions.
Love this!  I have a lot from when I was a kid and I can't wait to start some new ones with Jamie.
Here's just a few of the things I have up my sleeve.

Watching the Plaza lights turn on Thanksgiving night
This one started when my parents bought their condo here in Kansas City.  We all bundle up, grab some hot chocolate or Irish coffee and walk down to the Plaza.  It's such a fun way to kick off the holiday season.  Jamie's already managed to see it twice!

Elf on a Shelf

I'm sure by now you've all heard about this infamous little elf and all his crazy shenanigans.  Obviously Jamie is still a little young for it, but after seeing all the fun creative things parents have done on blogs and twitter, I can't WAIT until we can join in the fun!

Advent Wreath/Calendar

Growing up we always had an advent wreath.  Every night at dinner we'd light the candles and say the special prayer.  It's really important to me that my kids know the real reason we celebrate Christmas.  I really hate how commercialized it's all become so I will do anything I can to help them remember the true spirit of Christmas.

Christmas Jams
The hubs and I actually started this one the first year we were dating.  We picked out cheesy PJs to exchange on Christmas Eve.  We then proceeded to wear them the ALL Christmas day.  {Church excluded of course}  It was so nice to be casual and just lounge around all day.  Since then we've done it every year.  Once Jamie gets older I want his new PJs to be the one gift that gets opened Christmas Eve.

The Polar Express

This has been my favorite book for as long as I can remember.  Several years ago my best friend bought me a beautiful hardback edition that I've hung on to, just waiting to have a kids of my own.  Every year on Christmas Eve I want to read it together as a family.  One year I would also LOVE to head down to Branson where every holiday season they have an actual Polar Express train.  Kids wear their PJs and take a train ride to the North Pole to see Santa just like in the book.  How cool is that??

Christmas Pickle
I saw this in a store years and years ago and immediately knew its something I wanted to do with my own family some day.  Apparently it's a German American tradition where you hide this {pickle} ornament in the tree and the first one to find it either gets a special gift or gets to open the first gift.  What a fun way to get a little competition going Christmas morning!  I have visions of my children practically knocking the tree down to try and see who finds it first.  I can.not wait!

So what traditions new or old does your family do?
Link up and tell us!

Sleep? What's that?

The sickies have officially made their way into the EyeCanSee house.
Thursday night while getting my hair done my phone rings.
It's the hubs.  Jamie has a 103 degree fever.
Joy.
So Friday I took the day off and spent it with my sick lil man.
Clingy doesn't even begin to describe him.
If I even think about putting him down, he's crying.
Makes sleep interesting for all involved.
Needless to say there hasn't been much of it going on.
Poor guy.
At least we've gotten in some extra mama snuggles this weekend.
But now, just as Jamie seems to be on the mend...I have that faint tickle in my throat.
You know the one.
The one that's going to linger for a few days before turning into a full nightmare leaving me on death's door just in time for our 12 hour trip to Ohio.
Yep.  That one.
I'm loading up on the vitamin C and zinc in a vein attempt to avoid what's inevitably going to happen.
Fingers crossed it works!
Mama can NOT be sick for Christmas.

1987 called. It wants its VCR back.

Jamie decided we live in the 21st century and no longer have any use for our VCR.
Case in point.
Notice anything missing??
No?
Look closer....

And once said volume knob was removed, it only made sense to give it a new home right??
Let's see what we can come up with.....

 Yep.  INSIDE the VCR.
Awesome.
All thanks to this hysterically laughing {and apparently massively drooling} toddler.
Good thing he's cute....

So folks, for the 2nd week in a row I find myself quoting AP.
Motherhood = 2. MrsEyeCanSee = 0.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! {link up}

Hello all!  Back for another week of link ups with Mrs to Mama.
This time we're showcasing out holiday decor, inside and out.
So without further adieu, I present to you
Christmas at the EyeCanSee's!

Our icicle lights and my personal fave, the Christmas Tree Balls.
Thanks to an end of the season sale last year we gained 3 more including one lone red!
And the garland on the railing is actually lit ALL the way around this year!
Last Christmas we were ghetto and only half was lit.

After another crafting fail....my ornament wreath bit the dust so I picked up this baby from Target.
Only $8!

What?  You don't dress up your crazy metal mouselike creature?  Truth be told there's also a hat, but I couldn't get it to fit right over his ears.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!  AKA Jamie's new favorite toy.

I really love all the Santa "Believe" things that have become so popular!  It's a nice change of pace from the usual "Joy" and "Peace."  And there's my half assed attempt at a card display.  Next to the tree, it's Jamie's favorite accessory.  I can't tell you how many times I've had to re-hang it.....

I love our tall fireplace, but sometimes I wish it had a mantle.  There are only 3 little step shelves so when it comes time to add more stockings I'm not sure how that's going to work.

The kitchen table and my Christmas countdown!  As of today only 12 days to go!  Every morning Jamie and I change it, I ask where Santa is and he walks right over and points to him.  Still working on the "ho-ho-ho!"

So there you have it.  A little peek into our Christmas wonderland!
Make sure you go and link up your decorations today!

My little ham

Nothing like a little "Fluff" on the ole Blog for a Monday!
At least it's finally looking a bit more festive round  here!

Motherhood: It's not for the faint of heart

Last night started out much like any other.
Left work, picked up Jamie, came home.
Made tacos.
Made Chex Mix.
Ok so that's kind of out of the ordinary, but mama was craving some chex mix like woah.
Anyways, after making a complete mess of the kitchen, Jamie and I made our way downstairs to play.
It was at this point that I realized something had died in my sons pants and he was in need of a diaper change like yesterday.
It was only 6:15....a little early for bath time, but I figured what the heck.
Seemed silly to put on a new diaper for only 20 minutes knowing bedtime was close.
So upstairs we went.
I got Jamie all undressed, cleaned up the massacre in his pants and put him on the floor.
Surely a boy who has just peed AND pooped can be trusted for a little nakey time.
I went down the hall to turn on the tub and see Jamie's naked butt toddling into our bedroom.
No biggie, he probably wants to play with the phone or root through my sock drawer or dig the tennis racket out of the closet.
You know, usual Toddler debauchery.
Like clockwork, as soon as the tub water is on I hear manic laughter and footsteps coming down the hall.
Now it must be told that the amount of time that's past since I saw naked butt in our bedroom to turning on the faucet is maybe 60 seconds.
Sure enough here he comes.  But what is that on his leg?  And his hand?
Is that chocolate?
Oh dear god PLEASE be chocolate.
DontbepoopDontbepoopDontbepoop.
I sniff his hand.
Yep poop.
All over his legs.  Hands.  And face.
Sigh.
I clean him up.  Brush his teeth.  Twice.  Get his PJs on and then reluctantly enter our bedroom the crime scene.
And then I saw it.
And laughed.  Cause really....what else can you do.
In 60 seconds my son managed to take a poop (and pee) in the dogs bed.
Apparently he was just marking his spot.
In the infinite words of AP
Motherhood = 1.  Mrs EyeCanSee = 0.

Dear Santa....

So I think I've been extra good this year.
Have you noticed?
Well just in case you hadn't and needed any ideas,
here's a few things on my {fantasy} wish list.

Michael Kors Tortoise Jet Set Watch
It's even better in person Santa.  Trust me.
Tiffany Etiole Ring
Cause this girl needs some new wedding bling that's work appropriate and this looks like it would work under gloves perfectly.  Wouldn't you agree?

A pair of Frye Veronica Slouch Boots
*sigh*  Aren't they beautiful?

The Pink/Polka Dot Kate Spade Kindle cover
You know for the Kindle you got me last year.
Oh wait?  What's that?  You didn't buy my a Kindle last year?
Welp, better add that to the list too!

Red Patent Leather Coach Bag
Because who doesn't want a fun purse for the holiday season?

And of course.  The grand finale of all gifts which will probably be eternally on my wish list unless you win the lottery...

The Canon Rebel T3i
Ain't she a beaut Clark?

Well Santa, I think that about does it.
Happy Shopping!
xoxo,

It's OK....

This week has flown by!  And holy crap it's December!
Linking up with Amber and Neely today for

Its OK

....To be totally bummed when your favorite bloggers don't post everyday even though your own blogging regularity isn't exactly stellar.
....That by Monday everyone in our house was ready to get back to work and "school."  I didn't get to see it, but apparently as soon as Jamie saw his daycare friend Mallory he gave her a big hug.  My son.  What a flirt!
....That this week our dinners have consisted of leftovers, frozen pizza and hotdogs.
....That the inside of our house it completely Christmafied, but I still have 2 {molding} pumpkins on the porch
....To be a little miffed it was just assumed I wanted to participate in my works Secret Santa.  I don't mean to be a scrooge, but the hubs and I don't even exchange gifts in an effort to minimize the holiday spending....why would I want to spend $20 on a co-worker I've never even met.
....That 90% of the time Jamie still eats with his hands.  We're working on the whole silverware thing, but honestly as long as he's eating those green beans, I don't really give a crap how they get into his mouth.
....That I spent a good portion of the morning scouting out people to join in my children's book exchange.  Sometimes the thought of 36 FREE books takes precidence over silly work stuff.
....That I still haven't bought a single Christmas gift.  In fact, my side of the family hasn't even drawn names yet.  So even if I wanted to start shopping, I wouldn't know who to by for.
....That I never win at Words with Friends.  In fact I usually get my ass beat, but I still love to play.  I kinda hate when people resign just because they're going to lose.  It's a game people.  Who cares.
....That while playing said game I tried three times to spell "laser" L-A-Z-E-R and was getting pissed when it kept telling me it wasn't a word.  Guess it's no real surprise why I lose so bad.
....That we have no real plans to go all out on gifts for Jamie this year.  He still doesn't know the difference and I'm sure the Grandparents will buy MORE than enough.
....That it's December 1 and my blog still thinks it's summer.  One of these days I will get around to changing up my look!

Happy {almost} Friday Friends!

Turkey, Toilet Paper and Couch Forts.

My favorite holiday has come and gone and now we're officially in the Christmas season!
For the record I did not step foot inside a single store or shopping mall this weekend.  I also have yet to buy a single Christmas gift.  Some people like the thrill of Black Friday.  I like the thrill of those last minute bargains.
Oh the pressure and craziness of Christmas!
Honestly, it's why I've come to love Thanksgiving so much.
Sure as a kid Christmas was awesome, all I did was show up and get tons of gifts.  What not to love.
As an adult though?  It's stressful.
Thanksgiving however is a holiday surrounded by friends, family and tons of food.
No shopping required.
That's a holiday I can get on board with.
And boy did we!!

We sat too close to the TV to take in the Macy's Day Parade.

We wore goofy turkey shirts.

We ate.

We drank.

We enjoyed time together.

We kicked off the holiday season with a trip down to the Plaza for the annual lighting ceremony
{along with the rest of Kansas City}

We watched football

We unrolled entire rolls of toilet paper when mom and dad weren't looking.

And at the end of a long weekend, we tore apart the couch and built a fort.

Needless to say, this weekend was nothing but perfect.
Now bring on Christmas!
