Cut the cord people

First of all let me state the obvious.
I love my husband.
I enjoy every pretty much all of the time we spend together.

But I'm human.
I like alone time.
I like time with my girlfriends.
I'm a firm believer that distance makes the heart grow fonder.

What's with the crazy couples on Real Housewives?
You haven't spent a night apart since the moment you met?
You can't travel without each other?
Really?
Excuse me while I go vomit in my mouth.
I think it's healthy in a relationship to have different interests from time to time and I think every couple needs a break now and again.

For once, I may be siding with Vicki.
A girls weekend is just that.
GIRLS.
It doesn't mean you should drag your boyfriend/fiance/husband/life partner along for the ride.
Seriously?
Cut the cord and get your own life already.

HERE HERE!!! I totally feel you!!! I get so annoyed with stuff like this sometimes. People often say "what, you and Eric dont spend every night together?" (since we dont live together, but rather like 5 min from each other). I say "Um.. No.." And girls nights...are GIRLS NIGHTS. *sigh* I think it makes your relationship healthier if you spend some time with friends, too! Oooh I would so cheers you right now!

I totally agree. Yes I love my fiance but I also LOVE when I get a chance to hang out with just my girls or even just hang out alone. I encourage him to go out with his buddies. If we were around each other 24/7 we would probably kill each other. haha.

In my opinion couples that can't do anything apart have deep seated trust issues.

Girl friends and guy friends alike - Sometimes you just want your own time. I think it is important that couples understand that that is NORMAL. You shouldn't feel guilty if you want to hang out with your friends withOUT the other person, ya know?

Good post :) I had a girls night on Wednesday!!

I agree! I love my husband to bits, but I need girl time and he needs guy time! I have a friend that tends to not come to girl things because she can't bring her husband and I just don't get it! There's nothing wrong wit spending time away from your husband! You need girlfriends too! I felt bad for Vicki on last night's show and I agreed with her annoyance at the guys crashing her girl trip.

I totally agree as well! With Geoff and I both flying around for our jobs... when I get to see him I am really excited and don't take for granted our time together. If I couldn't exist without him, I would have some real problems. :)

Oh and yes... Girls nights mean girls. period!

ha! i totally agree with you!!! i couldn't believe when they were saying that they never do anything or go anywhere without their husbands...i wonder if there is a trust issue deep down, it's what i'm thinking.

Oh my gosh I never thought I would side with Vicki either, but I TOTALLY agree with you and her!! I mean hello, you can spend like 3 days away from your husband for some girl time. So glad you found my blog so I could find yours, I'm a new follower!

Completely agree and I have a girlfriend that doesn’t seem to believe in girls’ night out. I think she frowns on it when she sees me goes out sans Geof. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without my girlfriends. I love my time with Geof, don’t get me wrong, but I think that everyone needs to have their time apart too. Just my two cents.

I would like to hear how these women feel after 37 years of marriage, and no alone time with friends. Probably won't have any, at that point. And how pathetic is it that they are proud to call themselves "high maintenance"...Dd

Amen sister!!

We are both struggling with that because we are sooooo used to having to take advantage of our time together and spend every waking second together that it is hard to let go. But we are working on it. And we actually do go do our own thing. We just joke a lot about it!
