Houston....we have a problem

Well it's been a whirlwind 24 hours to say the least.
Last night, about 10:30 I was laying in bed watching tv
I started hearing what I thought was water....in the ceiling.
Nah...probably just the dishwasher or someone in the floors above us flushed the toilet.

(The perks of living on the 1st floor)

No....I most definitely hear trickling water in the ceiling.
(Gee I sure hope we don't get flooded like last years disaster)
And then it happened.
Oh dear. There's water dripping from the smoke alarm.....

"HUN!!!!! I think the unit upstairs has flooded again!!!"

Yep. Sure enough. 13 months later...the same vacant unit, has the same pipe burst.
Within about 30 minutes we have water pouring out of our vents, lights, smoke alarms and sprinklers. Joy.

The unit upstairs is a swimming pool and we're acting as it's drain.

Luckily we were able to get everything valuable out of harms way
and emergency flood people arrived within an hour.
We were able to sleep in the building's guest room while they worked on sucking our place dry until about 5:00AM.

The biggest damage is the hardwood floors in the living room.
Which means we will get to live through floor demolition for the 3rd time in less than a year.
*Sigh*
At least none of our personal things were ruined.
Now let's just pray we don't get mold....again!

OMG! That is terrible! It's horrible that it happened once, but twice?! That is a little ridiculous! Did they not fix it the correct way? I am very happy to hear nothing personal was ruined and you and your hubs are okay, but still. That totally sucks!

Oh no! You don't have to pay for all that every time it happens, do you!?!?

That totally and utterly sucks! I'm so glad nothing valuable got ruined. Perhaps it's time to twist some ears for what will happen if they don't get that pipe fixed correctly this time around...

Thanks for the suggestions of renting the tuxes on the cruise. We would take advantage of this, but L wants a tan suit and they only carry black tuxes.
