Not a good day for grandparents....

I want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my husbands grandfather last week. For those of you that don't know, he was in a serious car accident last Tuesday and has been in critical condition ever since. Yesterday it was determined that his head injuries are severe enough that he will never be able to survive without the assistance of a breathing tube. Anyone who knows grandpa knows he would not want to live the rest of his life hooked to machines so it was decided that today they will be removing the breathing tube and let nature run its course. We've been told he could stay with us for several days, so please continue to keep him in your prayers. I put my husband on a plane to Ohio at 5:30 this morning so he could be there to say goodbye. Not an easy task for someone who's nearly 38 weeks pregnant. Now I just need to have a talk with our son so he doesn't decide to come out before his daddy's return.

Ironic enough. Today also marks the 2 year anniversary of my own grandma's death. It's still weird to know she isn't here. That when I go to her house she won't be shuffling around in the basement or hanging laundry out in the yard. She would have been so excited for the arrival of her first great grandchild...a moment I never thought she'd miss.

Love you grandma and miss you everyday!

Wow. What a rough day! I'm glad your husband is able to be there with his family during this time though.

I was just thinking the other day about how excited my grandma would have been to meet her first grandchild as well. Makes me super sad :(

I'm really sorry to hear about his grandfather, that's always rough.

Your grandma was such a cute little lady, reminds me of my grandma who passed away in '07

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about grandpa! :( Your poor hubby, he's probably an emotional mess leaving you at home while having to face saying goodbye to his grandpa. Sending prayers of comfort and strength your way while also praying Jamie doesn't decide on a surprise arrival.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been dealing with the exact same thing. We also had to decide to let nature run it's course and take out the breathing tube(he passed a month and a half ago now, I can definatly relate to what your going through). It's hard. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

My thoughts and prayers certainly go out to you and your husband. I completely know what you mean about your grandma. I lost mine as a teen to a drunk driver and it was a really sad time in my life. There still is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her.

I was wondering what 'Hon' would do. It's nice he can have some closure. I'm sure Jaime will hold tight, if not, you can count on me getting down there in 2-3 hours if you need me :) xoxo
