One of my good friends welcomed her first baby into the world last week! She texted me a picture of her new bundle of joy all tucked into his car seat ready to head home. Seeing this itty bitty little baby being practically swallowed up by his huge car seat immediately made me think of this picture.
I remember how anxious we were to go home. To get out of the hospital. After 3 days I'd had enough!
I remember the nurse walking us out to the car. That's when it hit me. Oh my god. We're really leaving. And we have to take this thing precious baby home with us. ALONE. With no more nurses. No more lactation consultants. No more nursery to send him to when I wanted to sleep. Holy shit.
I remember sitting in the back seat with him. Watching him sleep the whole way home. A calm coming over me. Ok. We can do this. Look at him, he's perfect.
I remember coming home and putting him in his crib for the first time. His first nap at home. The hubs and I immediately collapsing into our own bed. Exhausted. We were totally going to "sleep when the baby slept." Heck yeah! This is awesome.
Then I remember not more that 2 minutes later that sleeping angel started to cry and my husband looked at me and said "This is going to be really hard isn't it...."
I don't think I'll ever forgot that day. The day we came home as a family of 3. It also makes me realize just how fast time really goes. How in just 18 short months we've gone from that tiny little baby to Mr. Independent.
How's that for a sappy Flashback?
Happy Friday Friends!

Sappy flashbacks are the best! I've been having a lot of those lately and know exactly what you mean. My sisters babe is 15 weeks old and keeps throwing me into the past:)
Love your baby picture!
oh my goodness... look at tiny jamie! time sure does go by fast!
Aww he's so teeny. I remember being amazed how teeny Hunter was in his carseat which he's already getting big in :( I remember trying to freeze that moment in my brain forever.
Awww he is so tiny! I love Flashback Friday!:)
It's so crazy to think back, isn't it? In one respect I can barely remember it (for both boys) and in another it was like it was yesterday!
Love it! It's crazy how crazy those first couple of days are. I was just having a conversation with my cousin last night, they were so insane during the time, but now looking back 2 and (almost) 1/2 years later it doesn't seem so bad. Am I nuts? :)
I love it! I can't believe time has flown by so fast!!!
Ahhh he is so freaking teeny!! I had forgotten how little he was. Ugh, I dread watching Jack get big :(.
So tiny! Makes me think back to our lunch on the patio at blanc where you filled us all in on all the details of childbirth and being a mommy! How fast time flies!
Aw, he was so tiny!!
