Doggy Day Care

I think it's fair to say, that with the invention of Doggy Day Care, Americans have reach an all time low of pet spoiling. I am guilty. When Kasey was a pup he had a bit of an attachment problem which led to chronic barking and mass destruction when left alone. For about a year, two days a week, I took him to daycare. He loved it. He came home exhausted and slept for the next day. I was happy. Life goes on. I was in my early 20s and had nothing better to spend my money one. However, once I bought my first place and the burden of a mortgage and new car payment came into play...daycare was the first thing to go. By this point Kasey was older anyway and was more than happy to spend the day sleeping away in his comfy crate. I still took him for boarding when I was out of town, but the day visits stopped. Where we went was a simple place. Nothing over the top, but it was clean and the people were super nice to the dogs. When we moved, I was heart broken to be leaving such reliable care behind.

Fast forward to last week.

We're going back to Columbus to officially move out of our condo and poor Kasey needs somewhere to go. My parents suggest we look in to Camp Bow Wow, the creme de la creme of dog care. So I call to set up the reservation and discover we need an interview. Seriously?? You have to size up my dog, make sure he's worthy? Well ok. So last Wednesday we show up to make sure Kasey doesn't bite anyone's head off. Boy oh boy is this place De-luxe! I think I wanna stay there! Probably be way more fun than packing boxes and driving a U-Haul truck for 10 hours. They have indoor and outdoor play areas. Nap time. Snack time. Camper cams so you can watch your dog from home. When I picked him up I was greeted with a happy dog and a full report card including a picture of his first day. I was such a proud mama that Kasey had passed with flying colors and got 5 out 5 "tail-wags" for the day. What has this world come to. At least you won't catch me pushing my pups around in a doggy stroller....I draw the line a premo day care. Ha!

the doggy day cares are crazy! They're expensive as heck too, but I guess for the dogs sake since they're being left behind they might as well love every minute of it!

HA! we have a doggy hotel in our town too and it sounds pretty similar. it's like a doggy resort. when i went to hawaii this past summer, i planned on leaving my bodie there. they needed an interview as well but then i got omar, my 2nd pup, and yea he wouldn't passed at all so we had to leave them with family. those places are good and all but what about the rowdy pups. they have no place to go! lol.

Oh lord that is so funny. I'd love to take mine but my little one wants to be the 'fun police' and my big one doesn't realize she's 65 pounds and wants to body slam everyone. Geesh!

That is absolutely hilarious! I will not do the doggie stroller either, but Tykers went a Pet Spa while we were on vacation. I think his stay cost more than mine!

I love that you can watch them on the cameras!

Sherm has separation anxiety, I think Doggie Daycare may be helpful though! Maybe next time we go out of town for the weekend, we'll try it!

I'm always so afraid when I have to board my dogs. Luckily I found a great place, no frills, but good people. And the daughter of the family who owns it is one of my sister's students, so I had her threaten her with a bad grade. So my babies got extra loving. It's a bit of a drive, but I feel comfortable leaving them there, and it's half as expensive as a place in the city. Seriously.

I've never taken them to a posh place like the one you described, but it sounds adorable. When we moved to the city I checked out some vets down here and they all had to check out my boys - to see if they were worthy of taking on as patients. We stuck with our vet in the suburbs. Not like we have to go too often anyway!!

Wow...that place sounds uber-swanky. This takes people treating pets like people to a different level. I'm glad Kasey had a good time :)

hahaha! So cute and I admit I'm guilty of the excessive doggie day care stuff too.. I agree that it's spoiling, but I've taken Gracie places where they seem like they could give a rats @ss if she's entertained or not and it makes me so sad, I cant handle it. Sooo.. deluxe it is for my pup! haha! :) Glad you found a good one!
