My first mom FAIL

So as a kid we always had cookies in the cookie jar.
Always.
Usually something of the chocolate chip variety...nothing too fancy.
But you could always count on them being there.

So as a mom-to-be I figure I best keep up the tradition.
Let's not dwell on the fact that I don't even own a cookie jar...
(Note to self. Buy cookie jar....or get really crafty and paint one at the pottery place)
Let's also not focus on the fact that my unborn son won't even be able to eat these said cookies for quite some time.
Details people, details...I my son wanted cookies NOW!

Well if you recall from this post...I bought the chips.
Forget the butter.

Sunday I finally get the butter but am far to exhausted to bake.
So last night I follow the recipe on the bag.
The dough is delish.
(Yep I ate some...raw egg and all...still alive to talk about it)
The cookies however.
Eh.
I mean they're edible...and I will be eating them, but they're by no means anything to write home about.

WTF!?

I've been making chocolate chip cookies since I was like 10.
It's like the cookie for dummies.
How could I have possibly messed them up?
I think I went a little overboard with the chips....adding almost twice what the recipe called for.
Hey...I'm pregnant and I like chocolate, step off!
But the end result was kind of a mess.

Oops.

Mom FAIL.

Looks like if I'm going to be the mom with the best cookies on the block I better start searching for some more recipes.

Good thing I have a few years.....

Simple solution...until you get back your cookie baking mojo, buy the cookie dough from trader joe's. They are sooooo good.

My mom is a terrible cook (not saying that you are by any means) however you can always do what she did--go out a buy a box of homemade-like cookies, but them in the jar, then hid the box in the bottom of the trash and swear the you made them :)

Hey I am a terrible cook so I bet they will taste good to me. I once made peanut butter cookies and seriously forgot the peanut butter. That is terrible. Well at least you have some time to practice before the little one comes and can eat those delicious cookies his mommy makes for him! :)

Hey at least you tried and made the effort! If you ever need a taste tester, you can always pass them along to me lol.

When in doubt buy the pre-made dough and take credit! No one will ever know!

Sorry to hear about your baking mishap! It happens. What if you used chocolate chunks instead of the chips?? I don't think that would affect the recipe too much plus you'd get chocolate CHUNKS! Yum ;-) Experiment, afterall you have time since your little guy won't be eating them for a good while!

I swear I made at least 5 batches of Peanut Butter Kiss cookies in my last few weeks of pregnancy. I had a total addiction to those. So FREAKIN good! And, eh...don't beat yourself up to bad. Practice makes perfect, ha!

I just swung over to see your blog from Weekly Jules. You have a nice blog.

I usually just make the chocolate chip recipe that comes on the back of the Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip package. That's my favorite...okay, it's my favorite raw dough recipe.

The kids are going to love your cookies just because you put love in it.
