My second home

Thanks everyone for all your amazing comments yesterday!! I'm truly blessed to have such AWESOME blog friends. The hubby made it in last night and it was amazing to finally see him. It's only been 3 1/2weeks, but I got nervous butterflies as I stood in the airport waiting for him to arrive. As we stood at baggage claim I just kept stealing glances, making sure he was really here!! We have a busy weekend ahead. Wedding tonight. Party with the inlaws tomorrow. Pack up the ole family truckster and hit the open road on Sunday. Kansas City here we come!! The cable and Internet get shut off today.....so I will see you on Monday! And now as my last official Ohio blog post...my tribute to Columbus

As I sit here ready to shut off my computer and officially sign off before I move 700 miles away, I feel I need to pay tribute to this fine city that's truly become my second home. I showed up on Ohio's doorstep almost 10 years ago....a nervous college freshman wondering what the the heck I'd just done. I didn't know a single person. Not one. My closest family member was now 10 hours away. I was determined to do it on my own. Prove everyone wrong who didn't think I'd make it so far from home. I'd be lying if I said I never once got homesick, but I jumped in head first and never looked back. I graduated from Ohio State in what seems to be these days a record breaking 4 years. I made lifelong friends. Got my first real grown up job. Bought my first home. Met the love of my life. Got married. It's certainly been an amazing 10 year run and I can't believe all the wonderful things I've accomplished. I have a lot of great memories here and even though I'm excited to go on this adventure and be closer to my family, it's a bittersweet goodbye. I cried the day I got here and you better believe I'll be crying the day I leave. There's a local band here called O.A.R...who I guess really isn't so local anymore...that I used to watch play in college. My favorite song of theirs is Road to Columbus and every time I hear it....I'll look back and remember my second home. See ya later Ohio!!! I'll miss you....O-H

Road Outside Columbus -- OAR

There's a road outside Columbus, Ohio
Feels like I drove along for years.
This Midwest way of ease it surrounds us.

I can't deny the rhythm here.

And as I pull away from Riverside beside me.

That High Street never looked so good.

I miss my lady even though she often writes me.

She tells me tales of my neighborhood.

Surprise, surprise, I travelled here.

Four hundred miles from where I'm known.

My friends are here.

A couple years I've spent, I found I have a second home.
